Ascending Winnipeg band Federal Lights is playing a hometown album release show at the WECC on Thursday, September 12th. Look for its debut record, We Were Found in the Fog, on August 27st (via Aporia).

Local Polaris Long Listers Ken Mode have booked an x-country tour of Canada including a gig at the Windsor on Saturday, November 2nd.

Opening for Lightning Dust (September 4th @ The Park): Louise Burns. Score!

TWIN is at Mondragon on Saturday, August 10th w/ Eagle Lake Owls, Ex Modern Teen, and The Silver Fox.

For a good time, try Deer Tick at the WECC on Wednesday, October 16th.

No Joy will be at the Park Theatre on Thursday, September 26th.

Opener for Austra (Sat, Oct 5th @ The Garrick): Toronto-based pair Moon King.

Afternoon Headlines: Royal Canoe record release parties! Factor, Elliot BROOD, and more!

Local fave Royal Canoe is staging a pair of record release parties for its latest outing, Today We're Believers: an all ages soiree at the Park Theatre on Thursday, August 22nd and an 18+er at Union Sound Hall on Friday, August 23rd. Nice of them to think of the children.

Montreal's AroarA - The duo of Andrew Whiteman (BSS, AoH) and Ariel Engle - is at the Park Theatre on Sunday, September 22nd.

From the can't-remember-if-I-mentioned-this-one file: Elliot BROOD is at Times Changed on Sunday, September 15th.

Trivium, Devildriver, After the Burial, and Sylosis make up a quadruple bill going down at the Garrick on Thursday, September 19th.

Factor is at the Windsor on Saturday, August 31st.

Cancer Bats and Bat Sabbath will play the Pyramid on Thursday, October 10th.

The Pretty Reckless is at the WECC on Monday, October 21st.

Rae Spoon drops by the Windsor on Saturday, November 23rd.

Pistol George Warren rocks the Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club on Thursday, August 1st.

For a good time, try oft-buzzed-about Shred Kelly at the Windsor on Monday, July 29th w/ Loon Choir.

Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls will be at the Garrick on Saturday, October 26th w/ The Smith Street Band and Koo Koo Kango Roo.

And finally, Canadian guitar playin' treasure Amos Garrett's home in High River, Alberta was completely wrecked in late June's flood, so a benefit concert for him is going down at the WECC on Thursday, August 15th featuring Al Simmons, Nathan Rogers, Dust Rhinos, and Lindsay Jane

Evening Headlines: James Murphy DJ Set; Hollerado & The Zolas @ The Park

First up a solid book for Union Sound Hall: James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) is doing a DJ Set there on Thursday, September 5th w/ Hana Lu Lu, DJ Hunnicutt. Tickets $25 at Ticket Workshop. My money is on him playing a buncha Daft Punk songs. 

Second, a solid double bill at the Park on Saturday, November 23rd: Hollerado and The Zolas rock the joint. After this week, looking forward to some November weather.

Third,...actually that's all I've got. Concert announcements have slooooowed.
