Courtesy of our giving pals over at the West End Cultural Centre, I've got a pair of tickets to giveaway for the Young Galaxy show going down on Wednesday, September 18th. Human Human get the party started.

Oh, and there's Bike Valet that night too!

If you're interested in checking out the event, fire me off an email (on the right hand side, below the concert listings) by noon CST on Wednesday, September 11th with the subject line "Young Galaxy Ticket Giveaway" and your name in the email's body. First up, indie-pop/rock guru Destroyer (aka Dan Bejar) hits the venue for a solo performance on Friday, November 8th. 

Sunday, October 20th brings Kalle Mattson w/ the Bonaduces to the joint. 

And finally, Matt Mays drops by the sound room on Tuesday, October 29th w/ Adam Baldwin (sooo good in Firefly)

Afternoon Headlines: Shad @ Union Sound Hall; Little Miss Higgins @ The WECC

First up, Shad returns to town for a show at Union Sound Hall on Friday, November 22nd. Look for his brand spankin' new record, Flying Colours, on October 15th.

Little Miss Higgins is at the WECC on Friday, November 15th.

Madchild is at Rec Room on Wednesday, September 4th.

Willy Porter is at the WECC on Sunday, September 15th.

Montreal's own Groenland is at the Pyramid on Tuesday, September 24th.

The Albertans drop by the Park Theatre on Tuesday, September 17th.

M-Kaps is holding an album release at the Park Theatre on Saturday, September 14th.

And finally, Emma Cloney is releasing her sophomore release, Stars for Streetlights, at the WECC on Saturday, October 12th w/ Kevin Roy, Keith Dyck.

Afternoon Headlines: Passion Pit Cancelled; Mushy Callahan @ The Garrick; Aimee Lane EP release

Just a couple quick notes this afternoon:

First up, Passion Pit has cancelled its Winnipeg date, and that makes me a sad panda.

From the band:

“We're sorry to announce that due to press commitments/scheduling, we need to cancel our upcoming shows in Saskatoon and Winnipeg this September. We're working on finding a way to reschedule these dates, and hope to have more info for you soon. In the meantime, refunds for these shows are available at point of purchase."

Next, Peace River Alberta's Mushy Callahan is at the Garrick on Wednesday, August 14th.

And finally, local singer-songwriter Aimee Lane is releasing her debut EP on Friday, September 27th at the West End Cultural Centre.  Lawrence Lee (Matt Foster of the Crooked Brothers) opens.

Braids by Victoria Masters

First up, Braids returns to town for a gig at Union Sound Hall on Tuesday, September 17th. Looks for its new record, Flourish/Perish, on August 20th.

Speaking of USH...Grand Analog has an album release show for Modern Thunder going down there on Thursday, August 22nd. Vikings & Happy Unfortunate & DJ Andrina are also on the bill. 

Localites Electric Soul is releasing its debut, Second Paradise, at the Windsor on Friday, September 6th w/ Mariachi Ghost and DJ King Cabernet.

The Nick Fraser Quartet is at the WECC on Wednesday, September 25th.

Spend an evening with David Francey at the Park Theatre on Tuesday, October 15th.

Justin Hines is performing under the canopy at the Forks at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 23rd. Show is free with any donations going straight to local charity Independent Resource Centre.

Winnipeg's Yes We Mystic have signed with local label Head in the Sand. Check out the band's EP release for Floods and Fires at the Park Theatre on Friday, September 6th w/ From Giants and Oshima.

Speaking of EP releases, friend-of-site skyscraper rockers Les Jupes is holding an EP release party for Negative Space at the WECC on Friday, September 20th.

And finally, Mise en Scene is at Union Sound Hall on Friday, August 16th w/ The Noble Thiefs.
