Morning Headlines: Sir Paul @ Investors Group Field; Fred Eaglesmith @ The Park

Sir Paul McCartney returns to Winnipeg for the first time in ~20 years for an outdoor soiree on Monday, August 12th at Investors Group Field. Tickets range from $35 - $250. Check for me in the nose bleeds.

Fred Eaglesmith is at the Park Theatre on Friday, August 9th.

As part of this year's Jazz Fest, BADBADNOTGOOD is at the Pyramid on Wednesday, June 19th.

Hollerado rocks the same joint on Friday, June 21st.

DJ Questlove performs a 60-minute DJ set there the night after. 

And finally, take a trip back to 1994 and see The Counting Crows and The Wallflowers at the Centennial Concert Hall on Wednesday, July 10th. Yikes! That conflicts with Folk Fest. Double Yikes! Tickets start at $66.

Evening Headlines: The Roots, Lights, Ingrid Gatin album release

Iconic Hip Hop crew The Roots return to Winnipeg for a Saturday, June 22nd date at the Centennial Concert Hall as part of this year's Jazz Festival.

Local indie-folk purveyor Ingrid Gatin is releasing her latest full-lengther, 1000 Lives, at the West End Cultural Centre on Wednesday, April 10th. Twin Voices warm up the crowd. 

Speaking of the WECC, Baby Dee and Little Annie comprise a double-bill going down there on Friday, April 19th.

Pop songstress Lights is at the Garrick on Tuesday, May 7th. 

Indie-pop artist JP Maurice is at the Rose 'n' Bee Pub on Sunday, March 31st.

Season rockers Primus bring its supposedly trippy 3D experience to the Burt on Friday, May 31st. 

Cityreal and Swollen Members will be at Pulse Nightclub on Saturday, April 6th.

That Ron Sexsmith March 23rd show at the Burt has been moved to the WECC

And finally, add Rich Aucoin to the k-os show going down at The Pyramid on Wednesday, April 10th.

Afternoon Headlines: The 2012 Winnipeg Jazz Festival Lineup Highlights

Hold Steady Captain Craig Finn rocking the WECC a few years back. 

So, yup, the science of deduction ringed true: the Hold Steady are, in fact, making another appearance in Winnipeg, this time moving up a few venues to the Burton Cummings Theatre. They'll be playing at the Burt (nee Walker) on Tuesday, June 19th w/ friend-of-the-blog / local rock stalwart Greg MacPherson. Oh, and tickets will run ya $41.25 inc. taxes & fees with presale getting underway on Tuesday. I'll Tweet the code if/when I get it.

Some other highlights that fit the m.o. of this site...

The incomparable Janelle Monae plays the Burt on Wednesday, June 20th.

Badbadnotgood is at the Pyramid that same night w/ Mitchmatic.

On Saturday, June 23th The Antlers is at the Pyramid. Circle that one.

Hometown heroes Imaginary Cities is there on Thursday, June 21st w/ Young Empires.

In Winnipeg Music News...Born Ruffians To Play Free Show, Dam-Funk @ Pyramid, And More!

First off, some major changes to the Jazz Festival: Appleseed Cast (June 18th, Old Market Square) and Quintron & Miss Pussycat (June 21st, Pyramid) are out. Born Ruffians (June 18th, OMS) and Dãm-Funk (June 21st, Pyramid) are in.

And, yes, you read that right: Born Ruffians playing for FREE at Old Market Square.

Speaking of festivals…a reminder: Early bird ticket pricing for the Folk Fest ends on Tuesday, May 31st. Also, add Funky Meters to the Saturday Main Stage Lineup as the evening’s sonic night cap.

Fill in the blanks: Peter Frampton C_____ A_____ at the Pantages Playhouse on September 28th. He’ll be performing said iconic, 70s chart-topping album front to back as well as some new material.

Montreal-based indie-folk artist Charlotte Cornfield plays Times Change(d) on July 28th.

And finally, Vancouver metal act Titans Eve rock Crescent Fort Rogue Church on July 7th.
