In The Future...Caribou, Iron Maiden, Chris Velan, And More!
>> Sunday, 7 March 2010
Caribou migrates to town on June 3rd for a date at the Albert, part of a massive North America tour in support of his new album, Swim (street date: April 20). The reason I always always always carry earplugs in my shoulder bag is because of the eardrum bustin’ Caribou experience. Consider this a fair and emphatic caveat, potential Caribou concert goers!
You’ll probably also need earplugs for Iron Maiden who return to the MTS Centre on June 30th.
Winnipeg’s finest funk collective Moses Mayes play the Pyramid on April 24th.
Brother Ali is there on April 5th w/ Fashawn and BK-One.
Songstress Jadea Kelly’s cross-Canada tour includes a stop at the Pyramid on May 6th w/ Rod Hussey.
Hollerado open for the Besnard Lakes on April 28th at the Albert.
Montreal-based musician and 1% For The Planet member Chris Velan is playing in-store sets at Mountain Equipment Co-Ops across Canada to raise “awareness about local environmental issues and those organizations working for change.” This includes a pit stop at MEC’s Winnipeg location on April 14th followed by a Park Theatre appearance later in the evening. And finally, on a deeply somber note, the brilliant Sparklehorse (Mark Linkous) took his life over the weekend, as Rolling Stone reports. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have caught his amazing live show. He will be severely missed.
