Best show elsewhere hands down, was TV on the Radio at First Ave in Minni two nights in a row.

Second on Ohbijou and Snowblink ... and Tasseomancy, Young Galaxy, and Austra at WECC.

SoCalled at WECC with the great Katie Moore.

And just before that was Mark Kozelek.

Locally ... Double Hook at Atomic Centre part of send + receive in early October. Fletcher Pratt at Grafitti Gallery in September. More noisy stuff ... Aaron Dilloway also part of send + receive.

Out on a limb ... Bands v. Film Makers at WECC. Love to see more theme nights. Also out there ... screening of National Parks Project at Cinematheque. Walked in expecting music videos and saw footage of Canada that was just jaw dropping. Oh and great music too.

Regrets. Did not go to the folk festival in 2010. I am not sure if I regret it or not.

Best show for me was Hayes Carll at the West End. He's quite the performer, with wicked sense of humour.

Without a doubt 2011 was personally not my favourite year for seeing live music. There were some great bands that visited Winnipeg, but overall it did not meet the level of 2009 or 2010. Just saying.

Top Ten Shows of 2011:
1, Destroyer @ WECC
2, Besnard Lakes @ WECC
3, Blonde Redhead @ Pyramid
4, Arctic Monkeys @ Walker
5, Braids @ Albert (RIP)
6, Pains of Being Pure at Heart / Suuns @ Lo Pub
7, The Pixies @ CCH
8, tUnE yArDs / Pat Jordache @ WECC
9, Neon Indian @ Pyramid
10, Jazz Fest Free Opening Weekend @ Old Market Square

Biggest regrets:
- paying $60 to see the Black Keys @ MTSC
- missing Jonathon Richman @ Pyramid

(Ditto on the Bands vs. Film Makers at the WECC Robert - that was great fun).

Is this Winnipeg? Most of the commentors mention venues I've never heard of & bands I've never heard of.

surprised no one has mentioned Handsome Furs @ wecc, that show was insane, i thought.
