In The Future...Arcade Fire Ticket Info; Gord Downie @ Garrick; Et Alia!

>> Monday, 16 August 2010

Ok. First up, ticketmaster released info about Arcade Fire's upcoming MTS Centre September 23rd date: no presale (as of yet) with generals up for grabs on Friday. Prices are head-scratchingly reasonable, ranging from $41.75 to $57.75 (including taxes and most fees).

Gord Downie & The Country of Miracles get together at the Garrick on October 7th. Never been a hip fan, but I was sure impressed with his band's loose and jaunty set @ Folk Fest '10.

What's in Edmonton's drinking water these days? Dropping by the Lo Pub on September 24th is another highly inventive indie-pop act from Alberta's capital: Hot Panda. If only my Oilers could get some of that top quality H20...

And finally, seasoned shock-rockers GWAR are embarking on their annual pilgrimage to the city this December 4th at the Garrick.

I was also surprised about how much I enjoyed Gord Downie’s performance at Folk Fest! The Garrick show will definitely be a good time.

you can actually purchase tickets now from the arcade fire site.. I just purchased 4 ga floor tickets :)

Thanks! Just scored four on the floor as well.

Not an experienced MTS Centre concertgoer... Are the GA floor tickets where it's at, or would one be better served holding out for prime seats? Can seated ticketholders get into the floor area if they desire?

Hey Chris:

Straight off the Ticketmaster Arcade Fire event page: Access to the Lower Bowl Concourse is limited to people with Level 100, Level 200, and Floor sections Only. Access to the Upper Bowl Concourse is limited to people with Level 300 tickets only. Access to the Floor Area will be limited to people with Floor tickets.

Sounds like there are no seats on the floor.

Hope that helps!

Sure does, Mykael, thanks! Your blog is fantastic, by the way; I read it almost every day!

chris,
there are varying school's of thought on 'where's the best place to sit'. for me, for this show, i want to be on the floor. if you are short, old claustraphobic, or plan on missing the opening act/getting their late, then i would get seats on the sides. very rarely for shows at the MTS is there 'freeflow' which allows you to move between the upper and lower decks, and never has it occured where you are allowed to move from the lower bowl to the floor.

p.s, sending my love to annonymous for the heads up on presale.

Ditto to that p.s.

Thanks Anonymous!

i'm new at buying presale tickets, so i was just wondering if both of those passwords will work if i go down to buy the tickets from ticketmaster downtown?

You should be able to. Ticketmaster call centre is open at 8:30am. Always a good idea to tripple check.
