First up, local act SitDownTracy is releasing its sophomore record, Twenty Something Winters, at the Lo Pub on Saturday, April 21st. Also on the bill is Modern Romantics and Scotch+Tape.

and Alex Lamoureux goes down at the WECC on Saturday, April 28th.

Miss Rae & Holly Stratton are at Pop Soda's on April 7th w/ Bacca.

The Black Dahlia Murder is at the WECC on May 21st w/ Exhumed and Fuck the Facts.

Fred Eaglesmith returns to town for a gig at The Park Theatre on July 4th.

And finally, Colleen Brown is at the Park Theatre on April 7th w/ Jenny Berkel and The Reverend Rambler.

Behold! The 2012 Winnipeg Folk Festival Lineup!

The 2012 Winnipeg Folk Festival lineup dropped earlier and, if my Twitter feed can be used as a veritable litmus test, there's a ton of excitement permeating Winnipeg this morning.

Running from Wednesday, July 4th to Sunday, July 8th, this year's festival once again brings some stellar acts to Bird's Hill, including Iron & Wine, K'Naan, Beth Orton (me: wow!), Blitzen Trapper, Bahamas, Elliot Brood, The Head and The Heart, and the previously announced Feist.

Below is the lineup (there's still some more acts to come apparently) and below that is the Main Stage schedule.

Afternoon Headlines: Feist To Play Folk Fest; Said The Whale Add Second Date

As per Pitchfork, Feist will be playing the Winnipeg Folk Festival 2K12 and is schedule to appear on Wednesday, July 4th.

Due to heavy demand, Vancouver quirk-poppers Said The Whale have added a second date at the Park Theatre: they'll now play Sunday, April 22nd as well as the day before.

Evening Headlines: Whitehorse @ The WECC; Henry Rollins @ The Burt

Whitehorse (duo of Melissa McClelland and Luke Doucet) materialize at the WECC on April 20th w/ Emma-Lee.

Double bill at the park in about a week's time: The Crooked Brothers and the F-Holes will be there on March 22nd.

The incomparable Henry Rollins is at the Burt on June 8th.

Jay Aymar is at the ACU Hall (smaller room at the WECC) on April 11th.

Vancouver's In Media Res is at The Lo Pub on March 28th w/ The Blisters.

Dragonforce is at the WECC on April 29th w/ Holy Grail and Huntress.

French export Housse de Racket is at the Pyramid on March 31st.

One week from today the Flatlanders Blues event - featuring Big Dave McLean and Suzie Vinnick - goes down at the WECC.
